Ft. Myers Area WaterfrontWhat is it about a home on the water that is just so serene? If it's your dream to have a beautiful river or an entire ocean as your backyard, Ft. Myers and Cape Coral are ideal areas. Whether you're looking for a vacation home or you're looking forward to Florida's wonderful weather year round, a home here is a great investment. Even if you don't live right on the water, some of Florida's best beaches and river destinations are in or near Ft. Myers.
For Myers´ own beach is considered one of the safest beaches in the world due to the shallow, easy waters. Access the beach from one of many points along Estero Boulevard. Along the beach is Lynn Hall Memorial Park. The park has many sports courts for you to enjoy a game of volleyball along the beach. Of course, there are many events held on Fort Myers Beach over the year such as the International Sand Sculpting Contest and the Shrimp Festival.
Lover's Key
Perhaps the best way to enjoy Fort Myers beaches, nature and wildlife can be found in Lover's Key State Park. Stretching between Big Carlos Pass and New Pass is miles of trails and beaches. It's a must for bikers and hikers who might enjoy trying to spot a bald eagle or a dolphin in the bay. There are rangers available for guided beach walks, as well as kayaking and canoeing tours.
Just west of Fort Myers are a small cluster of islands including the Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Even though it's just a hop, skip and a jump from your Ft. Myers home, many Ft. Myers residents make these islands a romantic getaway or a vacation destination for a fun family weekend. The islands were once one before a storm and the Blind Pass separated them. Blind Pass, which had been filled with sand, is currently undergoing renovations to be emptied.
Cape Coral has the best of both ocean water and river water front homes and recreation areas. Cape Coral is near the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River so you can spend a weekend fishing or swimming in the freshwater, and then going on down to the beach to comb for shells. With miles of canals weaving throughout the city, you don't have to go far for a waterfront picnic.
